Service Description
Location: The HQ Building, Chesterfield S49 1HQ. Suite 4. Duration: 6 month - 1 session a week each 2 hours long, 24 sessions (48 hours) in total. This course is designed to empower children with the essential skills to manage their money wisely. Students will learn how to earn, spend responsibly, save, and invest, as well as how to set long-term financial goals. They’ll also explore the importance of saving, building a financial safety net, and applying financial knowledge in their daily lives. Why is Financial Literacy Important from Childhood? Financial literacy is a vital skill that should be cultivated early, ensuring children are well-prepared for adulthood. Consider these insights: -Enhanced success: Children who develop financial literacy early outperform 78% of their peers. -Widespread challenges: 71% of children lack sufficient financial literacy, which can hinder their ability to succeed and achieve financial independence as adults. -Parental involvement: Only 33% of parents discuss financial topics with their children, and fewer than 3 in 10 address the family’s financial situation. -Financial struggles: 68% of adults live paycheck to paycheck, lacking savings or a financial cushion, which underscores the importance of teaching these skills early. This course helps children understand that: Financial well-being is attainable without extreme measures. Managing money is a practical and essential skill that naturally enhances income. It’s possible to balance saving with enjoying life. Even small amounts of money—like £100—hold significant potential. Through hands-on activities and discussions, we’ll introduce practical money management techniques and delve into the psychological factors that influence our financial habits. Course Outcomes By the end of the course, students will have gained knowledge and skills in the following areas: - Understanding the history of money: How it evolved and its role in society. - Currency awareness: Identifying different currencies and their uses. - Saving pocket money: Developing simple yet effective saving strategies. - Budgeting: Creating personal and family budgets. - Goal setting: Defining and working towards personal financial goals. - Banking fundamentals: How banks operate and their purpose. - Cybersecurity: Recognising and avoiding online and offline scams. - Financial concepts: Exploring loans, financial risks, markets, and securities.
